RUSU Realfoods Café Volunteer & Administration Support Officer

(Temporary Full time)

A unique career building opportunity exists for an aspiring Café manager or for an experienced Café manager who is looking to move into the ethical, fairtrade social enterprise space.

RUSU Realfoods is all about providing affordable healthy fairtrade, organic vegan and vegetarian food options and coffee to student. We provide RMIT students with hands on experience volunteering/working in a successful and busy Café.

From March to June 2017 RUSU Realfoods will operate as a Pop up Café in a brand new Pop Up café space within the heart of RMIT’s city campus.

We have:

  • Established suppliers and an exciting menu
  • An operational plan and established processes
  • An existing customer base
  • A high-quality volunteer program (60+ student volunteers)
  • The best tasting Fair-trade Coffee around.

We need:

  • Someone with extensive customer service and Café experience, (both in –café and the out of Café administration required to support a Café)
  • A barista with 2 years’ + experience
  • Someone passionate about working with and training volunteers/ young people.
  • A ‘Can Do’ person who can lead and is up for the challenge of being the primary staff member in our Pop Up Realfoods Café?
    • Someone who supports affordable, healthy, ethical, vegetarian/ vegan food and drinks?

 

Our Realfoods Pop Up Café opens in early March and what we need is you……..the lead staff member on site running the show

RUSU Administration Coordinator (Temporary)

 $70,815 full time equivalent ($56,652 for 0.8 FTE) plus superannuation

 Looking for an Administration role with a difference? An opportunity has arisen to fill a temporary position within a dynamic and fast-paced student-focused organisation. We are looking for someone with excellent organisational, IT and interpersonal skills who loves working with young adults and has a willingness to share their knowledge and experience.

Key Features

  • Coordinate administrative support for RUSU staff and elected student representatives.
  • Provide organisational, administration, communication and information technology support for the various RUSU offices
  • Provide administrative support to the Student Rights Service
  • Supervise and deliver the Student Rights volunteer program
  • Acts as the central point of coordination for the RUSU administrative functions
  • Part Time 4 days per week (56 hours per fortnight or 0.8 FTE)
  • Temporary Contract - February 2017 – February 2018
  • Based in the CBD

 

Description

The position of Administration Coordinator acts as the central point of coordination for the administrative functions for a range of Student Union activities. It is a multi-functional role that requires the incumbent to work on and prioritise a number of administrative, Information Technology, student rights, communication and liaison tasks concurrently. In particular, it provides administrative support to the Student Rights Service and coordinates the training and involvement of student representatives and volunteers on RUSU and RMIT University committees.

Your skills in the area of casework, advocacy, outreach and support will be utilised to represent students in a complex and challenging university/higher education environment.

 Key Features

  • Deliver advocacy (primarily individual casework) and support for students facing barriers resolving concerns with the university.
  • Contribute to the general flow of information to the student body and RMIT staff about student rights
  • Involvement in RUSU student rights policies, outreach and campaigns
  • Full time (35 hours/ week) Temporary position (March – end July 2017)
  • This role is based at the RMIT City Campus

Description

RMIT University Student Union (RUSU) is seeking a highly-motivated advocate who is passionate about student rights, welfare & equity issues. The focus of this role is on providing resources and support and advocating for Higher Education and VE students when dealing with concerns related to educational, equity and academic matters within RMIT. The position involves a substantial amount of casework and direct advocacy.

Applicants must be skilled at working under pressure, multitasking and have advocacy, casework and outreach experience.
