Being a student at RMIT is more than just going to classes. There are other things that play an important part of your educational experience at RMIT that draw you into becoming involved in the buzz and activity of campus life. The Student Union Clubs and Societies department (C&S) is the place where you can join a non-sporting club and meet other people. Clubs & Societies has been around almost as long as there's been a Student Union at RMIT. It started life in the year of the Melbourne Olympics (1956) as a small sub-committee of the student union, becoming in 1978 a full Department.
As students and apprentices, many of you already have your own departmental based clubs, which are a great way of getting to know people doing your program or course. But to broaden your horizons, special interest or social clubs are an even better way of meeting other interesting people at RMIT.
If you haven't already discovered the many clubs and societies at RMIT, you really are missing out on the action. Get out there and take advantage of a great avenue of support and fun. Joining a club or society will help you develop new interests or maintain old ones, from spiritual to social or political. Clubs are a great way to meet friends, maintain your identity and relax away from the pressures of study. You can also take part in social events and trips that your club organises during the year at discounted rates.
If there isn't a club that grabs your attention, you can always start your own! Clubs and societies are subsidised by your Student Union.
