The RMIT Student Union is the representative body for all RMIT students. The Student Union is 100% controlled by students. It is run by students for students. The Student Union not only advocates on behalf of students interests.
It also provides fun activities, events, student clubs and services and support for students.
The Annual Student Union elections are coming up. All RMIT students are eligible to vote in the elections.
All RMIT students who are financial members of the Student Union are eligible to seek election or nominate a fellow student for election.

How to Nominate
Nominations must be made on the official Nomination Forms available from Assistant Returning Officers located at the Student Union Offices at
Swanston St, Brunswick/Carlton and Bundoora Campuses and the Business/Tivoli site.

Nominations must be lodged no later than 12 noon on Friday, 29 August 2008 with an Assistant Returning Officer located at: -
* Swanston St. - Mandi Scott, Bldg 8, Level 3, Room 49
* Brunswick/Carlton – Irene Perkoulidis, Bldg 57, Level 4
* Bundoora - Jennifer Kingwell, Bldg 202, Level 2
* Business/Tivoli – Jaye Hardy, Bldg 108, Level 3
Note: A separate nomination form must be completed for each position.
Candidates Student Cards
Candidates must present their current student card with proof of Student Union financial membership when lodging their nomination/s.
Candidates Photographs and Statements
Nominees may submit a policy statement and a photograph of themself for publication.
Policy statements and photographs should be submitted in both hardcopy and electronic format and must be submitted with the candidate’s nomination.
For Student Union Council positions, policy statements must not exceed 400 words for officer positions, 200 words for general representative positions and 250 words for team statements and candidates contesting concurrently run elections.
Election Regulations
The rules governing the elections are set out in the RMIT Student Union Constitution and RMIT Student Union Regulations. A copy of the regulations and section 11 of the constitution will be made available to students when requesting a nomination form.
Ballot Paper Draw
Draws to determine the order of candidates’ names on the ballot paper/s will be conducted at the SUC offices, Swanston St. at 10:00am Monday, 1 September 2008.
Application to Register Name of Electoral Teams
Applications for the registration of an electoral team must be submitted by the close of nominations.
Team names and requirements shall be in accordance with regulation 5.6.4.
A proforma for the registration of a team name is available from Assistant Returning Officers and can be downloaded HERE
Polling
Polling will be conducted from Monday, 29 September 2008 to Friday, 3 October 2008.
Postal Voting
Applications for postal votes will shortly be available from Assistant Returning Officers on all campuses.
