Free zines!
Grab yourself something interesting to read – such as the latest issue of Mutiny – from the Student Union's new zine distribution rack at the City front counter, Building 8, Level 3. Or surreptitiously insert your own zine and get it out to thousands!

Support for DIY media
If you're into zines, posters, artist books or any other sort of DIY independent publication the Student Union Media Department is here for you. As a way of supporting you we're offering free photocopying and other services. Just get in contact! studentunion.media@rmit.edu.au

Independent Publications Collection
As Media Officer I'm currently working on establishing a collection of zines and other independent publications at the Student Union for the use of all students at RMIT. This is a callout for contributions to the new collection!

Cut'n'Paste [media] Collective
A crafty crew of kids interested in creative social subversion. Come to the Cut'n'Paste collective to share ideas, swap skills and be involved in actions to create your own media. Meeting fortnightly.

Blazing Textbooks – radical education airwaves.
Blazing Textbooks is a new weekly half-hour radio show focusing on issues around higher education from around the country as well as internationally.

First scorching the airwaves in December last year with a feature on teaching around issues of sexual assault, to coincide with the International Day of Action for Community Response to Sexual Assault, we’ve covered news items as well as presented reports on a wide range of issues. Programs just past have included discussion around ASEN’s ‘Opportunities to Waste’ report documenting the unsavory connections between universities and the nuclear industry, and a report on Australian universities as R&D centres for corporate arms development.

Raising the heat every Saturday at 1pm on 3CR 855 am (and streaming from www.3cr.org.au) Blazing Textbooks is open to all interested students to get involved in making their own media.

Upcoming shows are:
March
Sat 29 - Aarchist education/learning outside of the institution
April
Sat 5th - International students issues
Sat 19th - The state of student unions
Sat 26th - Arts, universities and the 'creative industries'
May
Sat 3rd - All things TAFE
Sat 10th - Rudd's elections promises - redux and revisited
