Volunteers

The Student Union has many great opportunities for volunteers... With us you'll gain new skills to make you more employable, certifications and  heaps of friends along the way!

Volunteer sign up sheets- please collect/complete and hand in to your campus RUSU front counter. Next main volunteer intake will be in Semester 2 2012. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering!

RUSU volunteers all take part in the RMIT LEAD accredited volunteer program, this means once you have completed 5 hours of training and 15 hours volunteering over the year, you'll receive recognition on your academic transcript, with a certificate also signed by the vice chancellor, crediting your time volunteering at RMIT. This looks great on your CV!

Campaigns & Communications Volunteer:
RUSU is all about helping students and making RMIT a better place for everyone. As a Campaigns and Communications Volunteer, you can be the driving force behind change and awareness campaigns, get involved with Student Shout at our weekly events, and gain reception and sales experience in the RUSU front counters. This is a great way to meet new people, make friends and make a difference.

Realfoods Organic Café Volunteer:
Volunteers will receive a full induction, which will include the bonus of FREE Food Safety Handling training by a registered provider, customer service and retail experience (which all look great on your CV!). We'll give you support specific to the tasks you'd like to help us out with.  Realfoods is a welcoming and professionally-run place to make friends and learn about organics! Visit the Realfoods page for more info on this awesome cafe.

Activities & Events Volunteer:
We have an awesome team of events volunteers who help out at things like Chill N Grill, where we serve free beer, cider and BBQ to hundreds of hungry peeps. We have a free food/music/booze event happening on every campus EVERY DAY, so we need more hands to help make RMIT the most fun uni in Melbs. This event would be especially good if you have an RSA certificate, want one  or want to learn about catering, event management, stage management, P.A and sound equipment.

RUSU trains and coordinates student representatives to sit on appeals panels for College Appeals, University Appeals Committee Hearings and Discipline Board. Basically this means that if a student is appealing a grade, accused of plagiarism or appealing a special consideration decision, their case is heard by a panel. This panel includes one student representative.

This is a great way to help stand up for students rights. It's also great experience for those of you who would like to rule the world some day...!!!
